Markus is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Medicine & Sports Consultant Physician at Queen Mary University of London, Institute of Health Sciences, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Since August 2012 Markus works as Sports and Musculoskeletal Consultant Physician for BUPA, in the 2013 opened Center for Excellence in Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Basinghall Street London.

Dr. Markus W Laupheimer MD, MBA, MSc in SEM, MFSEM (UK), M.ECOSEP started off his interest in musculoskeletal (MSK) and sports medicine by working in sports and orthopaedic centres in Switzerland, Germany, the US and the UK, before starting his GP rotation. He received an MD with distinction from Ulm Medical School, Germany, before he qualified as a GP in 2009, and followed his long-term interest in sports and musculoskeletal medicine by completing an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary, University of London.

Next to practical Musculoskeletal & Sports Medicine he is interested in research and developing new ideas. In addition he completed an MBA from Bradford School of Management with distiction with an focus in Innovation Management. Markus is a Member of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and member of the International Spine intervention Society and trained in Spinal Injections. He is member of the Scientific Committee of the European College of Sports and Exercise Physicians.

Markus is a executive member of the British Association of Sport and Medicine and a Associate Editor of the BMJ open Sports and Exercise Medicine journal and British Journal of Sports Medicine.
